Over the past four decades, my family and I have always been Littman consumers, but NEVER AGAIN!! As a young girl, I would watch as my father adorned my mother with diamonds for each of their anniversaries, for our graduations, and later for the birth of each grandchild born. It was only natural for me to follow the tradition of making Littman the place where I shopped for my jewelry. With Dad gone, I continued to buy my now 83 year old mother the jewelry that he would have purchased for her if he had still been here, as well as purchasing items for myself.

My problem began two months ago when I took several beautiful pieces of jewelry in for repair. Perhaps in hindsight, I should have taken in only one item at a time, but I didn't. I took in a 10k diamond ring, a 3K diamond cocktail ring, a 7K diamond tennis bracelet, and a 1K chocolate diamond cross necklace. The repair bill was to going to total $1,600.00. While I thought the bill was extremely high, I trusted Littman's and knew that my jewelry was going to be repaired and I would be happy with the repairs made. I TRUSTED THEM.

When they called me to tell me that my jewelry was ready to be picked up, I was elated. It had been three weeks and I was finally going to have my jewelry back. Sadly, I was brought to tears right there in the store!! The first thing presented to me was my bracelet. Oh how it sparkled in the light. But then, as big as day, was a diamond missing in it! How could they have missed it? One of the reasons I had brought it in was to replace a couple of missing diamonds and to replace a breach in one of the links. I'm 60 years old and I know my eyes aren't that great, but they're supposed to be specialists... or so I thought. They quickly agreed that a diamond was indeed missing and agreed to fix it. The next thing they handed me was my cocktail ring which was fine. Then they handed me my chocolate diamond cross necklace. It was so crooked, that when I laid it on the glass countertop it wobbled and tipped from side to side. I complained that it wasn't level nor straight and was told that they would fix it. I couldn't understand why they would have me come all the way from Bay Shore to Lake Grove and not have my jewelry ready after saying that it was! Who was the jeweler? Didn't he inspect his workmanship? Alex, the old jeweler, had retired. He would never have let something like this happen! The last thing I wanted to see was my jewelry in this condition for the amount of money that I was about to lay out for it! The next item they presented before me was my baby... my wedding ring from my deceased husband. It had been missing a small diamond around the center solitaire and had needed one of its prongs that held the solitaire fixed. As I carefully examined my ring, I noticed that the small missing diamond had been replaced but the solitaire had been scourged and visibly damaged. I was totally devastated!! By this time, I couldn't have stopped the tears from rolling down my face had I wanted to.

I left all of my things there and waited for the next call to tell me that my things were ready. Two weeks later, I went back to get my things. I had to once again leave my 10K diamond ring because they argued with me saying that the solitaire was damaged when I brought it in. I emphatically let them know that if that had been the case, they would have noted it on my ticket. I didn't scream, raise my voice or become indignant. As a matter of fact, the manager Angela and I talked so softly that only she and I knew exactly what was being discussed. In the most stern and sincere voice I could deliver, I told her that I would have Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau, 9 On My Side and anyone else I could think of, on this case if my ring wasn't repaired. I paid for the rest of my jewelry and brought it home, but once again, was forced to leave my ring there for repair... this time, at their expense.

A few days later, I wore my diamond cross to work. I wasn't at work for a full hour when I decided to go to the rest room before my students arrived. While washing my hands, I looked at myself in the mirror and to my horror, one of the chocolate diamonds was missing out of my necklace. I thought to myself, "NO WAY!!" I went to my classroom, got out the magnifying glass, and sure enough, it was gone!! Not only that, the chain was stuck in a groove made when they bent the cross making the chain unable to glide back and forth. I immediately called the store and let Angela know what had happened. She told me to bring it back when I came to pick up my ring.

The very next weekend, I went to North Carolina to a friend's wedding. Before I could get out of my hotel room to the wedding, my diamond bracelet was off my wrist and on the bathroom floor. I picked it up only to see that in the very same place that it had broken before... the very reason I had taken it to be repaired in the first place... it was once again broken in the same place, two links before the clasp. I kept it to myself. I didn't want to upset my new husband who was officiating over the wedding.

Now here it is another week later. Today I went to pick up my 10K ring from the store. Is it repaired? Yes. What did they do wrong? They replaced the original raised basket that the solitaire sits in, with another basket that is lower to the diamond band. In other words, my solitaire doesn't stand up to the height that it originally did. This time, I just looked at Angela and shook my head. She asked me to bring in my necklace. I just stared at her. I wouldn't even tell her about the bracelet.

I am so sorry about how you were treated.

I am also having a similar situation...I bought an engagement ring about a year ago and the diamond and a prong of it fell off and got missing at work and they are now telling me that it is not covered under the care plan!?!? I have read quite a few reviews online about this company...I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO FIGHT THIS IN COURT...I DO NOT MIND SPENDING MORE MONEY AND ENERGY ON THIS...CUSTOMERS/CONSUMERS DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS!!
